Hometown News For Orange County, Texas
The Parks brothers of last year's outstanding Orangefield High School golf team received further honors in July. Xander and Lincoln Parks were both named to the Class 3A 2023 Texas High School All-State Boys Golf Team.
Xander and Lincoln were chosen as part of the ten-member select statewide golf team for Class 3A. Topping the list of ten golfers was Xander with Lincoln in the eighth position.
Xander graduated from Orangefield at the end of May. Lincoln will be a junior this fall as the lone returning Bobcat on their golf squad from last season.
Orangefield golfers grabbed fourth place during the state Class 3A golf tournament held May 22-23 in Austin. Xander won the individual gold medal at the tournament with the lowest two-day score of 142 which was three strokes better than his nearest competitor. Lincoln finished in eighth place behind his older brother.
At the regional golf tournament played in Brenham on April 20-21 the Parks finished one and two to help secure a second place finish for Orangefield which qualified the Bobcats for the state tournament. Xander shot a 74 on the second day, the lowest individual score shot during the regional, to pass Lincoln who had the low score after the opening round and take first place by three strokes ahead of his younger brother.
Later this year Xander Parks will be attending Jacksonville College which has upgraded their golf program in the last year, but he may transfer in two years to wherever his brother Lincoln decides to attend college after he graduates from Orangefield High School. Xander who is an Academic All-American plans to study engineering in college.
