Harvey was born September 27, 1940, in Kaplan, Louisiana to Adolphe and Elvie Dubois.

In 1957, he met the love of his life, Lola. The two were married in 1960 and, together, they created a legacy of faith, love, and family, because, as Harvey always said, “A wedding is a day, but a marriage is a lifetime.”

Through their lifetime, Harvey and Lola were blessed with 5 children that loved their father fiercely, and would never have dared walk loudly while their daddy worked the “graveyard shift” during his long career as an operator at Firestone Polymers.

In order of age, not preference - because he considered all his children his “favorite” - Kevin Dubois and wife Peggy of La Crosse, WI, Debbie Meaux and husband James of Orange, TX, Eileen Young and husband Preston of Denver, CO, Michelle Overmeyer and husband David of Tyler, TX, Mark Dubois and wife Wendi of Lumberton, TX.

Perhaps his favorite part of his 5 children, were his 11 grandchildren: Melissa Dubois, Matthew Dubois, Marc Van Duyne, Brittany Lee and husband Chris, Allison Westra and husband Jeff, Casey Young, Nicole Wiggins and husband Adam, Brandon Overmeyer, Erica Overmeyer, Bailey Dubois and Blake Dubois, and great grandchildren Benjamin, Lila, Reid, Ramona, Russell, Ryan and Jett.

Harvey’s family includes his siblings, Norma Franklin and husband Wayne, Theresa O’Quinn and husband David, Michael Dubois and wife Sheila, Ed Dubois and wife JoBeth, many nieces, nephews and Godchildren.

Harvey is preceded in death by his parents, and his little sister, Mary Alice.

During his ministry, he participated in Engaged Encounter, Marriage Encounter, Knights of Columbus and ACTS.

Harvey and his family are founding members of St. Francis Catholic Community in Orange, TX. In 1992, he was ordained as a permanent Deacon and rarely missed an opportunity to serve at Mass and deliver simple, moving and inspiring homilies. In his years actively serving the community, he baptized babies and blessed marriages, comforted dozens on their path to eternal life, and inspired a greater faith in hundreds.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at “A Place Called Home” - Jamie and Robert Smith, Kathy and Ora - as well as to Chenet and all the staff at Southeast Texas Hospice for their love and compassion.

Serving as pallbearers will be Kevin Dubois, Mark Dubois, Brandon Overmeyer, Bailey Dubois, James Meaux and David Overmeyer. Honorary pallbearers include Mike Dubois, Ed Dubois, George Guidry, John Toomey and Doug Anderson.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any donations be sent to Texas Children’s Hospital.
