Philbert Lynn Honeycutt Jr., 54, formerly of Orange

Philbert Lynn Honeycutt Jr., 54, passed away Tuesday, July 18, 2023.

Lynn was born to Bette and Philbert Lynn Honeycutt, Sr. in Orange, TX on May 15, 1969. After Lynn graduated from West Orange Stark High School in 1987, he attended Texas State University and received his bachelor’s degree in 1991. During the summers of 1990 and 1991, he served as a Summer Missionary at Buckner Children’s Home in Lubbock, Texas and a children’s home in New Orleans, Louisiana. He obtained his Master of Divinity degree at Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary in 1997. For the last 20 years he built a career in the field of Logistics. He was employed at Axion Logistics, LLC in Baytown, Texas. Between his education and his career, he made many close friends with whom he enjoyed philosophical discussions. Lynn was always there to check on a friend in a time of need and was always rooting for the underdog.

In 2003, Lynn married the love of his life, Chrislyn Chaloupka. Lynn and Chrislyn went on to have two wonderful children, Quinlyn Razberri-Adelia Honeycutt and Lincoln Lynnox Honeycutt.

Lynn had no greater love than the love he had for his children. While he always had an enthusiasm for college football, that enthusiasm quickly found competition, contending with a passion watching Quinlyn play volleyball. Many early mornings were spent watching her on the court and in the sand, with words of encouragement and guidance. Lincoln and Lynn spent their time having dinner at Lincoln’s favorite restaurant, knee deep in mac-and-cheese and even deeper in discussion on the ways of life and where the future would lead.

Through the years, Lynn had a passion for reading classic literature and questioning the reason behind…well everything. Later in life he enjoyed searching for sea glass at the beach, attending close friends’ grandchildren’s sporting activities, thrift shopping and working in the yard, despite the Texas heat.

Lynn was predeceased by his father, Philbert Lynn Honeycutt, Sr. He is survived by his daughter Quinlyn, 16, son Lincoln, 13, ex-wife Chrislyn Chaloupka, mother Bette Stephens Honeycutt, sister Kristina Honeycutt Eastman, and many aunts, uncles and cousins whom he loved dearly.

A “Celebration of Life” will be held on Saturday, August 12, 2023 from 2-5 p.m., at The Palms Event Center, 4121 Interstate 10, Orange, TX 77630. In his memory, donations can be made to First Baptist Church of Orange, TX or SweetPups Rescue Nation and Sanctuary of Vidor, TX.
