BC First Baptist hosts family gospel singers.

Bridge City First Baptist Church is inviting the public to a gospel singing concert by The Hoppers, known as America's Favorite Gospel Group.

The concert will begin at the church at 6 p.m. Saturday, August 19. Doors will open at 5 p.m. The church is at 200 West Roundbunch Road and the phone number is 409-735-3581.

The Hoppers family singers began in 1955 in Madison, North Carolina, a rural farming community. Through the years, the changing family singers have performed in the Gaither Homecoming tours and videos, plus on venues from churches to Carnegie Hall in New York. The group has also had songs at the tops of different gospel music charts, including 'Billboard.'

The current group has husband and wife Claude and Connie Hopper singing with their son, Dean, and his wife, Kim; plus son Mike Hopper, and Karlye Hopper, the daughter of Dean and Kim.

Connie Hopper, who has survived cancer, is a member of the Southern Gospel Music Hall of Fame and has won numerous awards.
