Shannon "Bruce" Self, 61, Orangefield

Shannon “Bruce” Self, of Orangefield, Texas, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by family on August 16, 2023.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Sunday, August 20, 2023, at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City. Officiating will be Paster Harland Strother of Cowboy Church of Orange. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Orange.

Visitation will begin prior to the service at 12:00 p.m., Sunday, August 20, 2023, at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City.

Born in Kountze, Texas, on February 22, 1962, he was the son of Jesse Harold Self of Segno, Texas, and Sharon Messer Boiling, of Bridge City. Bruce graduated from Orangefield Highschool in 1980 and married the love of his life, Donna Kaye Self of Bridge City, on January 12, 1985. Together they raised their children in Orange County. In 2005, he retired from Goodyear Chemical. Bruce was a jack of many trades. Aside from fixing vehicles out of his garage, he and Donna owned many businesses, BC Battery and Alternator, Central Automotive, S&S Pecans, Safety Instruction for ATV, BC Sno Wizard & Produce, Kids in Motion Daycare, Burger Town, Blue Moon Neon, Classic Neon, and The Patio Shoppe. When Bruce was not working, he could be found relaxing by vacationing, gardening, camping, hunting, fishing, going to classic car shows, riding motorcycles, cooking, and walking around flea markets. He will be deeply missed by his wife, parents, children, grandchildren, family, and friends.

He is preceded in death by his daughter, Lacen Sherry Self.

He is survived by his father, Jesse “Harold” Self and wife, Wilma; mother, Sharon Messer Boiling; loving wife, Donna Kaye Self; daughters, Joni Abshire and husband, Charles, Lyndie Fisette and husband, Jeff; son, Shelby “Brent” Self and wife, Alice; 11 grandchildren; brother, Wesley Self and wife, Stacie; as well as many nieces, nephews and other loving family and friends.

Serving as pallbearers will be Richard Lassiegne, Mike Garza, Paul Picard, Brent Self, Jeff Fisette, and Wesley Self. Honorary pallbearers are Cowby Cooke and Clay Abshire.
