Ronald “Bill” Shoemaker, 77, of Deweyville, passed away on September 13, 2023, peacefully at home.
Memorial services will be held at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, September 23, 2023, at Calvary Baptist Church in Deweyville.
Officiating will be Reverend John Fortenberry. Born in Port Arthur, Texas, on September 12, 1946, he was the son of Fred Shoemaker and Doris (Alford) Shoemaker.
Bill proudly served in the United States Army National Guard. After serving, Bill worked as a boiler maker and floor installer.
He loved having family over every Sunday and often had Bar-B-Q to eat. Bill enjoyed gardening and being outside. He loved being able to take his wife dancing and often they would just dance in living room. Bill was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather and will be deeply missed.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Doris Shoemaker; and siblings.
He is survived by his loving wife, Donna Shoemaker; daughters, Cassy Shoemaker of Deweyville, Kelli Womack and husband Stephen of Deweyville, and Mandy Shoemaker and partner, Jeff Mare of Bridge City; son, Jason Shoemaker of Deweyville; grandchildren, Logan Womack, Seth Womack, Mark S., Black Shoemaker, Dalton “DJ” Shoemaker, Katlyn Dupuy, Elijah Curl, Micah Curl, Jonah Curl, Jade Reider, and Coye Reider; seven great-grandchildren; Charles Phillips and wife Barbara of Newton, Connie Chick and husband Joe of Huntsville, and Donna Mullin and husband Berry of Nederland; as well as other loving family and friends.
Cremation will be held under the direction of Haven of Rest Crematory in Orange.
