Hometown News For Orange County, Texas
Hurricanes, floods, tornadoes, and now drought have killed or damaged thousands of trees across Orange County during the past few years. On Saturday, volunteers will be able to plant new trees to replace the lost ones during a special day sponsored by Dow Sabine River Operations, Shangri-La gardens, and Keep America Beautiful.
The program is called Retreet and volunteers are to gather at 9 a.m. Saturday, November 4, at Shangri La, 2111 West Park Avenue in Orange.
While there, the volunteers will be taught how to properly plant a tree. After the lesson, they will be divided into small groups to go to selected public sites in the community to plant young trees that will be provided.
The plantings event will last until about 1 p.m. Volunteers will be provided with light refreshments and lunch.
