Larry “Gene” Landry was born January 7, 1937 in New Iberia, La to Gabriel Landry, Sr. and Irene Meyers Landry. He left this world to live eternal with the Lord November 3, 2023 as a loving husband, father, brother and PawPaw.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 8, 2023, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Orange, Texas. Officiating will be Reverend Antony Paulose of St. Mary Catholic Church.
Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 7, 2023 at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange, Texas, with a Rosary taking place at 7:00 p.m.
After high school, Gene, as most knew him, attended Southwestern College. He joined the United States Air Force and then became a carpenter and contractor until he retired. He attended St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
Gene met his loving wife Thanksgiving Eve 1958. He and Judy Deslatte Landry danced the night away and were married October 18, 1959. She has been by his side for the last 64years. Together they built a beautiful life filled with many blessings and a great legacy.
Gene loved his wife and his family. He enjoyed his Friday night meals with Judy, and family gatherings.
He was a huge Dallas Cowboys and NASCAR fan.
Those left to continue his legacy are his wife Judy and their five children; Laura Sparks (Don) of Starks, La, Lynne Theriot (Tony) of Orange, TX, Lois Forsyth (Barry) of Orange, TX, Linda Wade (Tommy) of Orange, TX and Larry Gene Landry II (Jennifer) of Keller, TX; his brother Gabriel Landry, Jr. (Kathy) of Broussard, La and sister Diane Landry Foote (Ken) of San Diego, CA. He was blessed with 12 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, and 7 great-great grandchildren.
The Landry family would like to extend a special thank you to Best Hospice and Gene’s nurses, Tiffany, Lailani, and Angela, for all the care they provided not only to him but to their entire family.
