Maxine O’Neal, 93, of Beaumont, Texas, passed away on December 5, 2023, at Pelican Bay Assisted Living in Beaumont, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 8, 2023, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Cemetery in Orange. Visitation will begin prior to the service at 1:00 p.m., Friday, December 8, 2023, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Born in Elmer, Louisiana, on January 28, 1930, she was the daughter of Robert Whitfield Moreno, Sr. and Pilgrim Camille (Patterson) Moreno. Maxine was a devoted Christian and loved reading the Bible. She was a member at North Orange Baptist Church while residing in Orange. After making her move to Beaumont, she became an active member of Westgate Memorial Church. She was very involved in BSF Regional and had a Servants’ Heart. Maxine often enjoyed cooking and being with her family. She was very graceful and an absolute blessing to know. Maxine touched many hearts and she made sure everyone knew how much they were loved. She will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her. She is preceded in death by her parents, Pilgrim and Robert Sr.; husband, Gordon O’Neal; and son, Michael David O’Neal. She is survived by her daughters, Betty Holland and husband Carlton, Linda Ballenger and husband Thomas, Jr.; grandchildren, Melissa Hamm and husband Charles, Melanie Brazzell and husband Mike, Jennifer DeRouen and husband Bryan, and Thomas Ballenger III and wife Elizabeth; great grandchildren, Christopher Hamm, Christen Hamm, Jakob Brazzell, Lauren Brazzell, Nathan Brazzell, Garin Brazzell, Thomas Ballenger IV, Kayla Ballenger, Jordan Stanley and wife LaRae, Ashton DeRouen, and Kaylee DeRouen; great great grandchild, Paisleigh Stanley; as well as other loving family and friends. Serving as pallbearers will be Charles Hamm, Jakob Brazzell, Bryan DeRouen, Thomas Ballenger III, Jordan Stanley, and Thomas Ballenger IV.
