Roberta Draughn, a long-time resident of Bridge City, Texas, and formerly of North Bend, Ohio, died on December 12, 2023. Roberta was born on October 17, 1948, in Dayton, Ohio, to Clifford Robert Meyer and Francis Parcher. Roberta spent her early life in the Cincinnati and Dayton, Ohio areas. Roberta was a beautician by trade and a mother by choice. Roberta met, married, and began a family with the love of her life, Steve Nelson Draughn. They had been married for 55 years at the time of her passing. Roberta had many interests over her lifetime, including reading, camping, card games, and crafting. She was a caregiver by nature, and she loved her family fiercely. She was a Girl Scout leader for her daughters’ troops, a home-room parent, and an activist for her rural community. Roberta’s most treasured role was as a grandmother. She cherished and loved being a grandmother more than anything else. Roberta is survived by her husband, Steve Draughn; four children: Denise (Brandon), Patricia (Ann), Stephanie, and Jonathan; three grandchildren: Roberta, Adrian, and Andrew; and one great-grandchild: Braylon. Roberta was preceded in death by her sister, Vicki Long; cousins, Kris and Donald Garling; and brother-in-laws, Russell “Bunny” and Glen Draughn.
The family wishes to acknowledge Harbor Hospice of Beaumont for their compassionate care and support. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, December 18, 2023, at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City. Officiating will be Deacon Steve Obernuefemann of St. Mary Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Mary Catholic Church in Orange. Visitation will begin prior to the service at 9:00 a.m., Monday, December 18, 2023, at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City.
