Fay Alva Jean Williams, 87, Orange

Fay Alva Jean Williams, 87, of Orange, Texas, passed away on December 22, 2023, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont, Texas.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, December 29, 2023, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Officiating will be Pastor Cazzy Francis of Pathway Church Mid County. Burial will follow at Parish Cemetery in Orange.

Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, December 28, 2023, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.

Born in Orange, Texas, on December 7, 1936, she was the daughter of Lloyd Ellis and Fern Peet Ellis. Fay Jean was a jack of all trades and was handy with repairs on anything. When she was younger, she worked as a bank teller and later moved to a bus driver for Little Cypress Mauriceville Schools. She worked her way to the front office and was there for over 20 years. Fay Jean was very involved when her children were in school, especially in the Booster Club. When Fay Jean was not at school activities, she enjoyed helping others with anything they needed. She often loved cooking meals for the family and enjoyed when everyone was together. She always had words of wisdom to offer such as “let today take care of itself and worry about tomorrow when it gets here” and “mind over matter”. Fay Jean had a huge and caring heart and will be greatly missed.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Fern Ellis; husband of 55 years, Charles “Dooney” Williams, Jr.; son, Pinky Williams; sister, Helen Robinson; sister-in-law, Carmen McGill.

She is survived by her sons, Eldon Williams and wife, Michelle, Desmond Williams and wife, Sonya; grandchildren, Justin Williams, David Rivers, Blake Williams, Racheal Rivers, Jordan Williams, John Cody Williams, and Hannah Williams; great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews; sisters, Doris Green and Ginger Ellis; brother, James McGill; sister-in-law, Margaret “Toot” Crouder; daughter-in-law, Traci Williams; as well as other loving family and friends.

Serving as pallbearers will be Justin Williams, Blake Williams, Jordan Williams, John Cody Williams, Hannah Williams, and Rip Matthews. Honorary pallbearers are David Rivers, Mark Duran, Dan Delaney, and Chuck Long.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to her brother, James McGill, Brenda Hill, Franny “Aunt Me” Smith, niece, Phyllis Manasco, and neighbor, Denise Sylestine for always showing how much they loved and cared for her.
