Alfred Lavail Perkins, 76, of Orange, passed away on January 5, 2024, peacefully at home.
Born in DeQuincy, Louisiana, on September 11, 1947, he was the son of Willard Perkins and Stella Mae (Verdine) Perkins.
Alfred began his career as an insulator and dedicated many years to honing his craft. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Alfred's true legacy lies in the love he shared with his family. He was a devoted husband to his beloved wife Katie and a caring father to their children. In his free time, Alfred enjoyed painting alongside Paul Husband.
Music also held a special place in Alfred's heart, and he found solace in its melodies.
Additionally, he loved fishing as it allowed him to connect with nature and find peace in its serenity. Alfred was a member of McDonald Baptist Church and his involvement in the church community allowed him to foster lasting friendships. He leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, dedication, and faithfulness that will forever be cherished by his family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Willard and Stella Perkins; brother, Glyn Perkins; and sister, Sherry Taylor.
He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Katie Perkins; children, Brandy Perkins, Shawnee Michael, Adam Perkins and wife, Crystal, and Mike Perkins and wife, Stacy; grandchildren, Kaitlyn Ivy, Taylor Decker, Sammy Michael, and Emily Perkins; great-grandchildren, Spencer and Delilah Ivy; as well as other loving family and friends.
Mrs. Perkins would like to thank her sister, Amanda Hooper for all her support and help. Cremation will be held under the direction of Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
