Van Huis and Reeves sign scholarships

Two student athletes at Bridge City High School signed scholarships on Friday, January 26, to play baseball at the college level. Jon Van Huis and Landon Reeves will both be studying and playing ball at colleges in Texas.

Bridge City High School head baseball coach Chad Landry praised the young men for their hard work and dedication as members of his Cardinal baseball teams. He thanked them for the contributions they have made to their high school baseball program the last four years.

Van Huis will be attending Texas A&M Corpus Christi beginning in the fall. Van Huis has played on the varsity at Bridge City during all four years he has attended the high school. Jon has been named to the All-District team twice and was the 2023 Team MVP for the Cardinals. He also served all four years on the student council and two years on the executive council at the school.

Reeves signed to attend and play at Angelina College this fall. Reeves played on the Cardinal varsity all four of his years at high school in helping the Cardinals make the post season playoffs each of the first three and hopefully again now in his final year. Landon has been valuable to Coach Landry as a utility player, an infielder, a pitcher, an outfielder, and was selected All-District Honorable Mention as a sophomore and First Team All-District in the outfield as a junior. He has received multiple recognitions as MVP and the top performer in tournaments with Bridge City.
