Jerry Andra Griggs, 58, of Mauriceville, Texas, passed away on February 5, 2024, at St. Elizabeth Hospital. A memorial service will be held at11:00 a.m., Monday, February 12. 2024, at Calvary Baptist Church in Deweyville, Texas. Officiating will be Reverend John Fortenberry. Born in Houston, Texas, on December 14, 1965, he was the son of Willard Griggs and Theah Bean (Davidson). Jerry embraced every moment with his trademark sense of humor and an infectious smile that could light up even the darkest room. As a union worker, his commitment to his craft was unwavering. He took great pride in his contributions to the Sheet Metal industry and being a part of Local Union #54. Jerry cherished nothing more than spending time with his grandkids and going out to share a meal and laughs with loved ones. His compassion extended beyond humans; Jerry was known for having a soft spot for animals in need. Often taking in stray animals and giving them a loving home. Jerry leaves behind cherished memories that will forever be etched in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him. Roll Tide! He is preceded in death by his father and stepmother, Willard and Eleanor Griggs; sister, Regina Smith; mother and father-in-law, Emily and Bobby Duncan; and granddaughter, Madilyn Jolley. He is survived by his loving wife, Brenda Griggs; mother and stepfather, Theah and Gerald Bean; daughters, Lacy Williams, and Stephanie Jolley and husband, Austin; son-in-law, Brandon Williams; grandchildren, Kadence Williams, Kaleb Williams, Konner Williams, Kynsleigh Jolley, Lane Jolley, and Madison Jolley; great-grandson, Kallen Williams; two great-granddaughters on the way, Karsyn and Kodi; siblings, Shirley LeDeaux and husband, Donald, Joe Griggs and wife, Lolette, Corey Griggs and wife, Teah, and Steven Rambo and wife, Donna; as well as many other loving family and friends. Cremation will be held under the direction of Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
