Orangefield golfers advance to state

The Orangefield girls golf team is headed to state. One Bobcat boy golfer will also be going to state again.

The Lady Bobcats captured third place at the regional tournament in Brenham completed on Thursday, April 18, to earn their invitation to the state finals. Lincoln Parks was the runner up in the boys 3A Region III golf tournament held in Brenham on Monday and Tuesday.

Leading the Lady Bobcat golfers was Rylie Kethan who shot a 92 on day two of the tournament followed by Jordyn Rucker with a 97 on the second day. Other team members Abby Slaughter (103), Lela Francis (112), and Emma Pierrottie (113) did their part in the team's score of 807 over for the two days to help Orangefield finish third.

Parks shot 75 in both rounds of the boys tournament to finish two strokes behind the leader. The Orangefield boys competed well taking ninth place in the regional tournament.

Parks repeats his trip to the state tournament like he did last year. The boys Class 3A tournament will be held April 29-30 at the Grey Rock Golf Club in Austin.

This will be the Orangefield girls' second trip to state in golf in school history. The girls state tournament for Class 3A will be May 6-7 at the ShadowGlen Golf Club in Manor outside of Austin.
