Hometown News For Orange County, Texas
One of the biggest country music concerts of the year will take place this fall in Southeast Texas.
Country music artist Dwight Yoakam announced he has extended his current tour and added some dates to the fall itinerary, which includes a scheduled stop at Doggett Ford Park Arena in Beaumont on Friday, Nov. 22, 2024. Tickets go on sale at all Ticketmaster outlets and the Doggett Ford Park box office at 10 a.m., Friday, June 28 for all ages. Special guests include Gary Allan and Joshua Ray Walker.
Dwight Yoakam, who last performed in Beaumont in 2016, emerged on the country music scene in 1986 with his debut album, "Guitars, Cadillacs, Etc., Etc.," and quickly became a popular figure across the country. Over the course of his career, Yoakam has more than a dozen Top Ten hits to his credit, including two number one tracks in "I Sang Dixie" and "Streets of Bakersfield," which was a duet with Buck Owens.
Yoakam's last studio album, "Swimmin' Pools, Movie Stars...," was released in July of 2016. He is also currently scheduled to perform at the Golden Nugget Casino in Lake Charles, La., on Saturday, Sept. 14, so fans will definitely have the opportunity to catch this artist in concert.
Gary Allan is no stranger to country music fans in Southeast Texas and Southwest Louisiana. He returns to Doggett Ford Park Arena as the main support for Yoakam on this leg of the tour. Also, Allan just happens to be performing at the Golden Nugget Casino in Lake Charles on Friday, Sept. 20, so his fans get double the pleasure of enjoying his music as well potentially.
Allan, 56, is a California-native and is still touring behind his June 2021 release, "Ruthless," which peaked at number eight on the Billboard US Top Country Albums chart. Allan released his debut album, "Used Heart for Sale," which features the hit single "Her Man." The album achieved gold status and he was off and running across the country music world.
Dallas, Texas-native Joshua Ray Walker will be the opening act for this concert and he is definitely a rising star in the country music world. In December 2023, Walker was diagnosed with colon cancer and has spent much of 2024 dealing recovery from surgery and chemotherapy. His health is improving one day at a time and he looks ready to get back to playing music on the road.
