Bridge City All Stars Win State Championship

For only the third time since 1957 an explosive Bridge City Little League 10-year old All-Star baseball team has won the State Championship. The young players outscored opponents 106-10 through district play, sectionals and last week during the State Tournament in New Braunfels, Texas.

The last time Bridge City brought home the State Championship was in 2016.

"It was a great ending to a perfect season," said head coach Johnny Dishon. "This is a special group of young men. We coaches are honored to be part of the team. Each player stepped up and contributed whether their name was called to pitch, come up with a big hit, or play flawless defense."

Last season the All-Star team lost to Nederland 5-4 ending their state championship hopes. This year was a different story as the Cardinals were able to gain revenge defeating Nederland twice in district play 10-0 and 14-2.

"Only giving up six runs throughout the entire All-Star season speaks volume to our pitching staff," Coach Dishon said, "Our boys worked hard and deserve all the credit for their success this season. They worked hard with our coaching staff and Pitching Coach Jason Stutes to stay ready. This is true for not only the kids that pitched lights out in the games but for the other six kids that stayed ready. They all put in the work and we as coaches had the confidence we would win the game no matter who was on the mound for us."

According to Dishon, the Bridge City All-Stars were a tough offense lineup to face for opposing pitchers. "Athletes from top to bottom. Mixed with speed and power. I can name many big moments for each kid where they stepped up and delivered with a big hit or at bat for their team."

The Bridge City Little League 8-year old All-Stars also had an outstanding season winning the District Championship.
