After noticing an abundance of new businesses opening in Bridge City recently, The Record decided to check in with Mandy Lyda, executive director of Bridge City Chamber of Commerce to see just how many businesses have opened since the first of the year.
“It’s exciting to see all the new businesses in Bridge City,” said Lyda. She went through the membership list to see how many have joined the chamber since January.
Brooke and Catherine Lending Company (aka: FBC Mortgage), The Mustard Seed and Joy and Stream Boutique are all located in the new Encore Dance building at 2899 W. Roundbunch Road.
The Mustard Seed is in Suite 101 and offers affordable and trendy home décor and gifts.
Their hours of operation are 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Saturday and closed Sunday
“We’re still working to get the word out,” said Jennifer Derouen, owner of The Mustard Seed.
Brooke and Catherine Lending Company are ready to help with your mortgage needs.
“Getting pre-approved before shopping for a loan or a mortgage can provide you with a clear advantage in the home-buying process,” states their Facebook page. Their Bridge City branch ribbon cutting was held April 5.
Joy and Stream Boutique is constantly bringing in fresh apparel. They are open Monday-Wednesday 11 a.m.- 7 p.m., Thursday – Friday 11 a.m. – 6 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. – 3 p.m., Closed Sunday.
Across the street, at 2970 W. Roundbunch, the new DG Market opened just a couple of weeks ago. Part of the Dollar General family, DG Market has expanded food selections including fresh meat, produce and other foods that aren’t normally found at dollar stores. It is open 8 a.m. – 10 p.m., seven days a week.
Scratch Kitchen, a breakfast and brunch establishment recently opened at 1575 Texas Ave. offering southern style meals seven days a week. Their hours are 5 a.m. - 2 p.m. Monday-Friday and 7 a.m. – 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. They start the day with limited breakfast items and start offering lunch at 11 a.m.
Eastex Armament, an outdoor and sporting goods store, just moved in next door to Scratch Kitchen at 1597 Texas Ave. In addition to equipment, they offer laser etching, stippling and Cerakote services. Ladies, looking for a different kind of camouflage for your rifle? Check out the LV pattern or pink webbing. Hunting is getting bougie.
Pure Stripe Industrial Painting offers parking lot striping services along with road striping, fire lane and warehouse striping, ADA compliance markings and more.

Luxury First Travel L.L.C. at 720 E. Roundbunch is currently looking for a local storefront location according to Lyda.
Low Tides Restaurant located at 3096 Texas Ave. (near the swing bridge) was featured in an article earlier this year. It is closed Monday – Wednesday, open 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Sunday and Thursday and 11 a.m.- 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
“These are locally owned businesses,” said Lyda. “Shop local and let them help you with your needs.”
This may not be a complete list and there are others scheduled to open soon. Bridge City is on the grow.
