Barbara Ann (Lambert) (Herron) Lassiter, 85, of Bridge City, Texas, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September21, 2024, at Bonne Vie Nursing Home in Port Arthur. Born on July 30, 1939, in Georgetown, South Carolina to Ruth (Neeley) and John Marion Lambert. Barbara was raised by her father and stepmother Cristabell Lambert.
Barbara is survived by her daughters, Cindy Lee Sanders of Vidor, Texas, Lori Denise Philpott and her husband Clarence of Bridge City, Texas, and Jamie Carol Essex and her husband Chris of Orange, Texas. She was blessed with fourteen grandchildren, thirty-eight great-grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren, with another on the way. Barbara is also remembered by her siblings, including Lana Ray of Nederland, Texas, John Michael Lambert of Georgetown, South Carolina, Jennifer Watts and her husband Jimmy of Georgetown, South Carolina, and Kenneth Herrick and his wife Nell of Panama City, Florida, along with a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to her immediate family, Barbara embraced her bonus children, Terry Odem of Moss Point, Mississippi, Tangie Shelton of Vidor, Texas, Mike Lassiter and his wife Kim of Spurger, Texas, and Pam Bryant and her husband Gary of Kountz, Texas, welcoming their families into her heart as her own.
A devoted member of Faith Tabernacle Apostolic Church for sixty-nine years, Barbara dedicated herself to her faith, teaching Sunday School for thirty-six years and working diligently within her church community. Her love for music and cooking infused joy into the lives of those around her, as she opened her home to youths in need, embodying her spirit of generosity and kindness.
Barbara's life was marked by her proudest accomplishments, including the deep connections she maintained with her friends since childhood, Myrtle and Mary Kate from South Carolina. She was a beacon of strength and compassion, and her legacy continues through the countless lives she touched.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Ruth Neeley and John Marion Lambert; her stepmother, Christabell Lambert; her first husband, James Edward Herron, with whom she shared forty-two years of marriage; her second husband, James Albert Lassiter, with whom she spent twenty-three years; her daughter, Elizabeth Ann Royer; and her siblings, Frances Lambert, John Marion Lambert, James Herrick, and Alma Smith and her husband Steve.
A visitation to honor Barbara will be held on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., with the funeral to begin at 11:00 a.m., at Faith Tabernacle Apostolic Church located at 10169 Memorial Blvd., Port Arthur, Texas, 77640. Interment to follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches.
