Community Christian School wins TCAL State Cross Country Meet

The Community Christian School Boys and Girls cross country teams struck gold again at  the TCAL State Cross Country meet this past Friday in Georgetown, TX. In April the boys and girls track teams won the TCAL state meet in both divisions for the first time in school history. The cross country boys and girls team continued the winning streak by becoming the Overall Champions for boys and girls at the TCAL state cross country meet. CCS competed in Division II (the small schools division).

The meet was held at beautiful San Gabriel Park in Georgetown, TX on Friday, October 11th. The high school boys ran a 5K course, and the high school girls ran 2 miles. There was also a junior high division. Medals were awarded to the top 8 in each division.

Community Christian School has a longstanding cross country program of 24 years, but haven't been able to compete as a team in many years due to not having enough to make a team. "This year we knew we had a chance to place as possibly runner-up, but were surprised to come out on top as the champions. Our runners really dug deep and had their best races of the season. We have a very young team made up of mostly freshmen, and we are looking forward to growing together and only improving in the future," Coach Amanda Britnell said.

Our stand-out performances for the meet included freshman Levi Hinton, who was the overall boys champion in first place, followed by Ben Samuel in 3rd, and Baylor Vanderburg in 8th. Our girls team was equally impressive with Elizabeth Thomas finishing in 3rd, MaKayla Nguyen in 5th, and Kadynce Ice in 8th.
