Hometown News For Orange County, Texas
Christmas trees decorated with Salvation Army angels can now be found in stores and businesses around Orange. Each angel ready for adoption represents an individual child and includes a list of Christmas wishes and needed items. Thanks to the generosity of individuals, families, businesses and groups from the community, more than 400 children in need will experience the joy of Christmas morning this year.
"The Salvation Army Angel Tree program provides toys, clothing and other items to children and families who otherwise would struggle to afford Christmas gifts this year. Many are living paycheck to paycheck in today's economy, and we have the opportunity to come alongside those parents and make the holidays a little less stressful and provide Love Beyond Christmas morning," said Captain Dante Salgado of The Salvation Army in Orange. "Angels are now available for adoption by community members and businesses, who play a significant role in bringing joy to children's hearts this Christmas."
The Salvation Army Angel Trees can be found at local malls and other businesses during the holiday season. Individuals and businesses in the community can adopt "angels," represented by paper angels on trees. Each angel symbolizes a child or senior citizen who might not receive a gift at Christmas without this program. Angels will be available for adoption from now until December 12.
If you cannot shop in person this year, you can still participate in the Angel Tree program through Walmart's "Registry for Good" program. Visit www.walmartangeltree.com and search for The Salvation Army of Orange to order items that benefit local families. Walmart will deliver these gifts directly to The Salvation Army.
