The Orange Public Library will be having a Christmas movie festival on Tuesday, December 10, with free screenings of classic feel-good family holiday films.
At 10 a.m., Mickey's Once Upon a Christmas will be shown. The animated anthology features "Donald Duck: Stuck on Christmas" starring Donald, his nephews Huey, Dewey, and Louie, plus Uncle Scrooge McDuck. Also, "A Very Goofy Christmas" with Goofy, and "Mickey and Minnie's Gift of the Magi," in the classic O'Henry story.
It Happened on 5th Avenue will be screened at 2 p.m. It is a 1947 film that has gained a holiday following in recent years after being shown on Turner Classic Movies. The movie script is based on another O'Henry story set in New York City, with the time moved up to include post-World War ll veterans. The plot centers around a tramp who sneaks into a closed Fifth Avenue mansion during the winter each year, making sure everything is back in order when spring comes. But this year, he lets some veterans stay there because they cannot find lodgings. A twist comes when the wealthy family returns. The stars include Victor Moore, Don DeFore, Charlie Ruggles, and Gale Storm.
At 5:15 p.m., the 2003 movie Family Switch starring Jennifer Garner and Ed Helms with Rita Moreno. The film tells a story about a bickering family at the holiday time. A trip to an observatory and a strange astronomical occurence makes various family members switch places.
