County sees big increase in sales taxes for November

People shopped Orange County in November, sending an increase of sales taxes to the local entities. The Texas Comptrollers Office sent the individual payments in January that cover the month that includes holiday shopping.

Orange County saw a jump of 52 percent in sales tax income for November 2024 compared to November 2023. The county has a sales tax of 0.5 percent, or a half penny per dollar. The county took in $881,390 for November sales, up from $579,210 last year.

Bridge City was only slightly up. The city has a 1.5 percent sales tax and collected $177,000 for November 2024, compared to $173,600 the year before, an increase of nearly 2 percent.

Orange had a big jump in sales for the month with $542,600, a nearly 22 percent increase from $445,136 in 2023. The city has a 1.5 percent sales tax.

Pinehurst was down slightly, collecting $59,627 for November 2024 compared to $60,534 for the same month in 2023. It was down 1.5 percent. The city has a 1.5 percent sales tax.

Vidor saw a nice increase of 18.5 percent in sales for November with $339,475, compared to $303,565 the year before. The city has a 1.5 percent sales tax.

West Orange collected $161,400 for November, up nearly 24 percent from 2023 with $130,405. The city has a 1.5 percent sales tax.

Orange County Emergency Services District 3, the Little Cypress Fire and Rescue Department, is the only special district in the county with a sales tax. The district's tax is 1.5 percent and $31,012 was collected for the month of November, p from $25,040 the year before.
